B. Professional Information:
1. Course Aims: This course enables the students to:
- Understand and differentiate between the different physical and chemical methods for bacterial
eradication.
- Recognize different sources of microbial contamination
- Explore aseptic area validation and the sterilization process including indicators, and sterility testing.
- Study various antimicrobial groups and their mechanisms of action, contraindications, adverse drug
reactions of antimicrobial agents.
- Address bacterial resistance and the clinical misuse of antibiotics and strategies to overcome.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of antiseptics, disinfectants, preservatives, and antibiotics.
