4.0 CONCLUSION
After all the findings, it can be concluded that financial ratios are the important part in the
business since it describes the financial position of the company. The interpretation and
performance evaluation of bank and non-bank do aims to gain knowledge and experience in
identifying problems that occur in a company. Financial position helps the company to reveal their
strengths and weakness so that they know how to make the improvements on the efforts that
have been made or not due to meet the needs of the market and the customers.
According to the performance evaluation of Maybank, Maybank shows an improvement
from 2016 to 2018. It shows that Maybank has the better quality in delivering their products and
services to their beloved customer such as commercial banking, investment banking, Islamic
banking and internet banking. Besides, Maybank always keep up with advancement by launching
Maybank2u app which can be used as to perform a transaction using mobile phone.
It same goes to Employees Provident Funds (EPF) which EPF plays an important role in
dealing with almost 14 million members who contribute their money to have savings in the future.
But based on the performance evaluation, EPF has the poor performance due to a slight decline
in 2018. As the recommendation, EPF should focus on getting more profits in the coming years
by taking care of internal as well as external factors in order to prevent default risk.
In addition, the financial institutions can make a comparison among others that have in
the same industry such as Maybank and CIMB Bank. The comparison between these two
established companies is to analyze what is the best method that other banks use to attract
customer to utilize its products and services. Some of the methods could be used in terms of
realize more profits and gain trust customer to invest more in that company. This also can be
applied to non-banks such EPF and Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP). Customer can analyze
and decide which company has a better performance and quality to be invested.
Hence, analysis and interpretation of financial statements is essential in assessing
company’s performance.
