What a year this has been! Many miles travelled and lots of great memories made! I accomplished my goal of finishing my Superior Amateur Championship with “Chance,” becoming the 7th amateur in APHA history to accomplish this feat. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was a part of this accomplishment...Lisa Seccomb and Christina Frost for joining in on the gaming fun and celebrating with me after I earned those
last needed points, Matt and Erin Henderson, Brad and Tristin Chastain, and the LPH gang for always cheering me on, and my husband David for being amazingly supportive of my horse addiction and big goals. You guys have all been a blast at the shows this year! I’d also like to give a heartfelt thank you to OPHC for the beautiful Cowboy Bronze statue painted to look just like Chance that they gave me for accomplishing this award. It means a lot to me that you guys sur- prised me with this! I believe Kathy Parker and Erin Henderson were the initiators of this, so thank you guys so much! And let's not forget my parents and in laws for flying to Texas to surprise
me and be there when APHA presented the award to me at the world show! You guys are the best! I’m looking forward to many more good times with all of my horse show friends next year!

This has been a truly amazing year for A Spot of Zip and me as I look back. We only showed in one lope show last year and started all over this year with a our new trainer Kara Whitsell of Baker Training Stable, LLC. This was a year of learning new things, building strength and con- fidence to compete with some of the toughest novice amateurs. We also worked really hard on perfecting showmanship for the masters amateur division. This was A Spot of Zip’s second full year of training and our second full year of showing together. A Spot of Zip has exceeded all my expectations as an all-around young horse. I must say that the highest point for me this year was at the World Paint Horse Show is November. I am so proud he gave me his all and did not let me down. We were the immediate masters amateur world champion in showmanship, 3rd in hunt seat equitation, 3rd in horsemanship, 10th in hunter under saddle, 7th in master amateur showmanship, finalist in western pleasure and 5th overall high point for the world show in novice amateur. I would like to thank my husband for supporting my crazy horse life style and being there to help at the shows. All this would not have been possible without my awesome, hardwork- ing and talented trainer Kara Whitsell. Kara thank you for making my childhood dreams come true this
year. It means the world to me!
