“Inspired by the literary movement of Magical Realism
and the long human tradition of visual storytelling, my work is a study in the vari- ous ways by which we perceive and shape our own realities. Complex, mysterious narra- tives, open to the viewers’ interpretation, are created with the juxtaposition of collage and painted images. My process incorporates paper ephemera, layers of dry media drawing, glazes, and opaque oil paint which alternately reveals and obscures the layers beneath.
In these mixed media works I explore the tenuous nature of memory and dreams. I also examine the ways in which humans interact and conflict with nature. I approach these sub- jects to gain a deeper insight into ourselves.”
