Nasturtiums
I eat its red flower
this afternoon spread
on toast with cheese, thinking of you in this light.
And you far off— another country another woman another life.
I eat another one
without you.
A strange muscle-beast you are: tongue— crucial for taste and articulation
for what could have been too— the two of us
two tongues, two flowers.
Two nothings now.
