“In my abstract mixed-media paintings I try to evoke the shift of weather and light on a landscape and this is reflected in the sense of movement and change in the work itself. Billowing color, a play of line and mark, and the lay-
ering and wiping back of paint, give a sense of seeing through and beyond the sur- face. From the North Nor- folk salt marsh coast to the rugged Cornish coastline, I sketch on location, but in the studio I work from mem- ory, using intuition and ex- perimentation to evoke my experience of a place rather than a recognizable repre- sentation.”
