“In 2018, as I started to prepare for a trip to Greece, I stumbled upon a lecture on Greek philosophy and encountered for the first time the notion of ‘Apeiron,’ which resonated very strongly with the work I was doing in the studio. The result is my first Chemigram squence—‘Apeiron.’ Apeiron
is a Greek word meaning ‘(that which is) unlimited,’ ‘boundless,’ ‘infinite,’ or ‘indefinite.’ Anaximander, a sixth-century BC Greek philosopher, believed the beginning or ultimate reality (arche) is eternal and infinite, or boundless (apeiron), subject to neither old age nor decay. As such, Apeiron can be understood as a sort of primal chaos out of which everything is created as well as the des- tination of everything once it ceases to exist.”
