Number cards can be placed in various ways to make the expression.

The Greatest and Smallest Values of an Expression

To make the greatest sum, the greater digits must be placed in the
greater place values, and the smaller digits must be placed in the smaller
place values.
To make the greatest difference, the number that is subtracted from
must be made the greatest and the number that is subtracted must be
made the smallest.
