Listening Comprehension
Does losing a job make you unhappy? Many people would say, “Of course!” Most
people feel depressed when they lose their job. However, this is not the case in the
Philippines. A lot of Filipinos do not have a job because of economic problems. Still,
the level of happiness is very high.
How could this be possible? Studies explain that Filipinos have other reasons to feel
happy. Harmony with family members is one good example. They feel happy as long
as they have their family with them.
Positive thinking is also another reason. They always think that everything will go
well. They enjoy today and never worry about tomorrow. So, losing a job, or a poor
economy, does not really affect their level of happiness.
