Materials: Number Battle board, 4 Number chip sets (0-9),
Operation chips (+, , ×, ÷, ( ), =)
Let’s make number sentences with parentheses by using number chips and
operation chips.
Number 1. Place the Number Battle board in the middle of the table and spread the
Battle operation chips +, , ×, ÷, ( ), = in the middle of the board. Shuffle four
number chip sets face down and stack them aside.
2. Each player takes five number chips and puts them in the slot on the board
without showing them to the other player.
3. Decide who will go first. In your turn, make a number sentence by using number
chips and operation chips. You must use ( ) in your number sentence.
4. When it is your turn, take one number chip from the stack if you cannot make a
number sentence and the other player takes a turn.
5. The game ends when one player places all of his/her chips down, when he/she
has more than nine chips so that he/she cannot put them in the slot on the
board, or when neither player can make a number sentence. The player who
places all of his/her chips down or has fewer chips wins.
