P. 119
Type 13-2 Triangles with the Same Area
A line is drawn on a dotted paper where the 1 cm
dots are spaced 1 cm apart. Draw all the 1 cm
triangles of different shapes that have the
given line as a side and have an area of 3
cm2. If one triangle matches another triangle
after being flipped or rotated, the two triangles
are considered the same.
1 When the base is 3 cm and the height is 2 cm, we can draw a triangle with
an area of 3 2 2 3 cm2. Draw all the different triangles that have the
given line as a side and have a base of 3 cm and a height of 2 cm.
2 When the base is 6 cm and the height is 1 cm, we can draw a triangle with
an area of 6 1 2 3 cm2. Draw all the different triangles that have the
given line as a side and have a base of 6 cm and a height of 1 cm.
3 You can also make a triangle with an area of
3 cm2 by taking away three small triangles from a
rectangle with an area of 8 cm2. Draw this
triangle using the given line as one of its sides.
