The Protestant Reformation started from Martin Luther who published a list of 95
complaints against the Roman Catholic Church. Kings in many European countries left
the Catholic Church to have more power, freeing from the pope’s control. Average
people supported the Reformation for religious reasons. They didn’t speak Latin which
was used in the Catholic Church. In addition, they could have more religious freedom
such as reading and interpreting the Bible on their own.
