3 Divisibility Rules
Basic Concepts Divisibility Rules (1)
A number multiplied by 1, 2, 3, 4, is called a multiple of that number.
If number X is divisible (can be divided with no remainder) by number Y,
number X is a multiple of number Y.
You can tell whether a number is a multiple of another number with the
following rules, without using division:
Multiple of 2: The digit in the ones place is 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8. 24, 82
Multiple of 5: The digit in the ones place is 0 or 5. 105, 240
Multiple of 3: The sum of all the digits is a multiple of 3. 78, 93
Multiple of 9: The sum of all the digits is a multiple of 9. 105, 216
Example Use the number cards to make a 3-digit number that can be
divided by 2, 5, and 9 without a remainder.
