Basic Concepts Pigeonhole Principle
If 3 pigeons go in 2 pigeonholes, 1 pigeonhole will always have at least 2
pigeons.
If 4 pigeons go in 3 pigeonholes, 1 pigeonhole will always have at least 2
pigeons.
If 1 pigeons go in pigeonholes, 1 pigeonhole will always have at least
2 pigeons. This is called the pigeonhole principle.
Example If 7 pigeons go in the 3 pigeonholes; A, B, and C, 1 pigeonhole
will always have at least pigeons.
Class Notes
3 pigeons go in each pigeonhole. There is/are pigeon(s) in each pigeonhole.
A BC
The next 3 pigeons go in each pigeonhole. There is/are pigeon(s) in each pigeonhole.
AB C
Now, the last pigeon goes in one of the pigeonholes: A, B, and C. 1 pigeonhole will
always have at least pigeon(s).
