Basic Concepts Splitting Shapes
Dividing a shape according to certain conditions is called splitting shapes.
As shown below, some shapes can be split into shapes of the same size.
Splitting a shape into smaller shapes having the same shape as the original
is called rep-tile.
Example Split the shape into four smaller shapes of the same shape.
Class Notes
The shape can be split into equilateral triangles. Each of the 6 triangles can be
split into smaller equilateral triangles, forming small triangles in total.
The shape must be split into 4 shapes. Therefore, each shape needs 24 4 small
triangles. Therefore, the shape can be spilt as shown below.
