U ntil 64 million years ago,
dinosaurs ruled the earth. Some
were huge and only ate plants. Some
dinosaurs were small and deadly
hunters. Then, suddenly, all of the
dinosaurs died. It happened very
quickly. Within a million years, every single dinosaur disappeared. But what
happened? Why did they all die?
Today most scientists believe that the dinosaurs died because a huge
asteroid hit the Earth. An asteroid is a large rock from space. The asteroid
made a huge dust cloud around the earth. This cloud stopped the sunlight,
and the earth was dark and cold. Dinosaurs could not live in the cold
weather. So, they died.
