P. 21
Unit 2 READING 1
(A) Some people say that having a pet is
too much work. However, pets are good
for children. First, they can be lovely
playmates. Second, taking care of pets
can teach children many important
things. Children can learn social skills
and patience. They also learn respect for
all living things. Finally, pets can help children keep healthy minds.
(B) I don’t think it’s so great to have a pet. Pets need a lot of
care. You must remember to feed them and clean them.
They often make noise and make your house dirty. Most
pets carry serious health risks, too. , turtles
and birds can carry dangerous bacteria like Salmonella.
Follow my advice, and don’t get a pet. It will only cause a
lot of trouble.
English Usage
• help + object + (to) infinitive
I helped her (to) find her son.
• It ~ to-v : a preparatory subject ‘It’
