17,000 years ago, the world was a very cold place. It was the last ice age.
The ice age was a time of very cold weather. Most of Canada and other
northern countries were almost all ice. It was a very hard time for both
people and animals. There was not a lot of food.
Before the ice age, there were no people in North or South America. But in
the ice age, there was an ice bridge from Russia to Alaska. People crossed
this ice bridge. They moved south into North and South America. At the end
of the ice age, there were people in all parts of North and South America.
