The 9 4 rectangle below is composed of squares, of sides 1 cm each.
Cut the rectangle along the lines into two pieces, then join the pieces
together to make a square.
1 Find the area of the given rectangle and the length of a side of the square
you need to make.
2 In order to make the square from 1 , how many centimeters do you need
to extend or reduce the length and width of the rectangle?
3 Divide the rectangle by using the dimensions found in 2 .
4 Using the dividing line found in 3 , divide the rectangle into two pieces and
make a square.
