Drawing a line of a given length
Let’s draw a line of a given length without using a ruler.
Material: Cuisenaire rods
1 Prepare the Cuisenaire rods.
2 Draw lines for each length by using the Cuisenaire rods given in the next
page.
Example
2 cm 2 cm 3 cm 3-2=1 (cm)
3 Write how you draw the lines.
Example
1 cm 3-2=1 (cm) 2 cm 2 cm
or 2+2-3=1 (cm) 2 + 2 = 4 (cm)
3 cm 3 cm 4 cm Cannot be drawn.
or 3+2-2=3 (cm)
5 cm 3+2=5 (cm) 6 cm
7 cm 3 + 2 + 2 = 7 (cm)
4 F ind one length you cannot draw.
