Unit 1 Turn It Down
Reading Comprehension
Gina knocks on her brother’s door. There’s no answer. He’s listening to rock
music. And it’s very loud. She opens the door.
“Ted, turn it down!” she yells. Ted says, “What?”
Gina says it louder. “Turn it down. You’re going to lose your hearing,” she says.
“Don’t worry. It won’t happen,” he says. Later, Gina and her parents want ice
cream.
“Ted, let’s go get ice cream!” says Gina. But Ted doesn’t answer. So they go
without him. Ted gets angry when they come back.
“Why didn’t you tell me? I wanted ice cream!” says Ted. “I did. Maybe you didn’t
hear me,” says Gina.
