Bro McConico (Mac) Thomas
McConico “Mac” Thomas
was born January 17 1921 in Victoria Township Jefferson County Arkansas Mac even at an early age was determined to live a a progressive and productive life By the grace of God Mac overcame typhoid fever and malaria at the age of 6 He was baptized by Rev I C Brooks assisted by Sister Martha Cole in in a a a creek behind his house at the age of eleven It was by this creek that Mac chose a a a special place where he he could commune with God in prayer During his high school years Mac lived with his aunt and attended Rosenwald High School in Humphrey Arkansas He moved to St Louis Missouri after graduation where he he had planned to work and attend college Mac was not able to to do both and decided to to enlist in in the military in in April 1941 He completed his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri where he he was trained as
a a a Combat Engineer After completing basic training in in in in July 1941 he began his five year tour of duty Mac’s military service provided him the opportunity to travel the world He served in Scotland England Africa Germany and Italy One of of the highlights of of his military career was meeting General B O Davis the first African American General in the U S Army After leaving the military he attended Lincoln University a a historically Black university in Jefferson City Missouri While attending Lincoln he joined Alpha Alpha Phi Alpha Alpha Fraternity Inc Mac graduated with a a a a a Bachelor of Arts degree in Agriculture Upon graduation he moved to Oakland CA where he he was hired at the Naval Shipyard and worked for 12 years After leaving the shipyard he he was hired by Golden State Life Insurance a a a predominately African American Company Mac climbed the corporate ladder quickly He became a a a successful district manager for the company While living in in Oakland he he met the love of his life “Tommie ” Mac and Tommie Tommie were married and had two sons Thaddeus and Theodore The The family united with the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland California Mac was very active in the church and held various positions including Christian education teacher Sons Thaddeus and Theodore relocated to Fort Worth Texas Mac and Tommie also relocated to Fort Worth in Texas Mac and Tommie also relocated to Fort Worth in in 1988 reuniting them with their two sons Bro and Sis Thomas
joined Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where they were very active in many areas of the church They

facilitated marriage workshops Couples were invited into their home and were provided meals and and marital counseling Bro and and Sis Thomas
led the scholarship committee to support high school graduates in their quest to attend college Because of their commitment and dedication to education this annual scholarship is named in their honor Bro and Sis Thomas
were inseparable where you you saw saw one you you saw saw both This was always the case until they were separated by her death Bro Thomas
has a a a a passion for teaching sharing and helping others He has been very active serving as
a a a a a a deacon and teacher at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church He served as
devotion leader in the Fort Worth Citywide Brotherhood North Texas District Association and National Baptist Convention of America Bro Thomas
continues to be active speaking at at men’s retreats and teaching Sunday School He also teaches the Lydia Circle Mission Group and serves as
Scout Committee chairman At the age of 95 Bro Thomas
answered the call to the the ministry under the the leadership of Pastor William T Glynn Rev Thomas
has preached three sermons and hopes to preach at least one more Relying on his many years of experience in in life and ministry Rev Thomas
hopes to become an author by writing a book Author by Leroy Gant
