In the country of west Africa many medical facilities continue to to to be be open today because of churches support to to to this Convention through the GIVE initiative A husband and and wife team from Huston Tx giving up their lives for four years to to be missionaries in in the the the country of Uganda and and every month we support support them while they are are away from their home You support support work work in in in Liberia where 10 pastors are are now in in in seminary Due to to the the work work of of the the National Baptist Convention of of America Int’l Inc Inc (NBCA Inc Inc ) we pay their tuition every year and that's because of o offering from churches that that support support this Convention And we support support our workers not only there but in in in in in the the the Bahamas the the the rebuilding in in in in in Haiti in in in in in Jamaica and in in in in in in Panama When I say Bahamas some people think that's just a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a place to to go go on on vacation but you need to to get off some some o of of the the the beaten paths there and go go to some some o of of the the the poor communities where mission is is is needed Your NBCA Inc is is is doing a a great work Today we want to to say thank you you you pastors and churches Thank Thank you you you you you for for your your work Thank Thank you you you you for for your your support that has has allowed us to purchase debt free a a a a a a a a a a 57 acre retreat center center in Louisville Kentucky As a a a a a a a a a matter of fact this retreat center center is is is so nice that the the other people tried to get rid of us us They didn't want us us in the the neighborhood So what President Tolbert did did was get one of them them and and let them them live on on on the the the the property property and and now some of us resides on on on the the the the property property There is always a a a a a a a solution but your Convention has a a a a a a a a nice 57 acre retreat center in in Louisville Kentucky and is is one of the most beautiful places in in that whole
community community because we bought it it it in that community community We also support Simmons College of Kentucky where our headquarters is is located This past week there was an an announcement to help us start our Teacher Education Program There is a a a a a a a a a foundation that pledged to to give us 10 million dollars toward our Teacher Education Program They pledged to to give us a a a a a a a a million dollars every December for 10 years So that we can start training black teachers in in in the the state of Kentucky because the the data proves that that our children learn better when they see teachers that that look like them in in the the the classroom The school system in in Louisville has decided and selected Simmons College of Kentucky your college college to be their teacher train college college in in that area The College College and Seminary Board that supports Simmons College College of Kentucky just a a a a a few weeks ago bought the the original Historic Central School - the the school that Muhammad Ali attended We had Simmons College to purchase it Your Convention NBCA Inc because of o offering from you we we gave Simmons $350 000 so that that we we could purchase that that school for classroom space and to be the Headquarter for for your National Baptist Convention of America Int’l Inc for for the next 50 years We We We do do not not have have have to to pay anything anything else We We We do do not not have have have to to to fix anything anything We We We We have have have our headquarters now We We are in in in in that historic building the reason I'm telling you this because a a a a a a a a a lot of times people talk about what we we are are not doing doing but we we are are doing doing a a a a a a a a a great work Some folk just don't know it We now now have our own seminary the Cont on on pg 6
