Living in a Pandemic: A Collection of Stories on Coping, Resilience & Hope
In a recent study conducted by researchers at University College London, researchers gathered anonymized data from approximately 5,400 app users to discover how their exercise habits changed during the phases of the pandemic. Predictably, almost everyone’s exercise habits changed when the pandemic and lockdown first started. As restrictions eased, more people began exercising more often but it was individuals 65 and older who returned to their normal exercise habits or extended their exercise times. Researchers suggest that the older individuals were more motivated to work out because of greater concerns about their immune system.1
EXERCISE SHOULD BE RECOMMENDED LIKE SOCIAL DISTANCING
It has become common knowledge to implement health procedures and protect yourself from the coronavirus. Individuals have engaged in social distancing, staying at home, washing hands regularly, and disinfecting surfaces frequently. While these are common safeguards against the virus, adding exercise to your routine could be another line of defense.
