President Elect’s Message
Who is your best client? Mine is the FDCC and its members. No other client provides me with the array of rewards and depth of satisfaction that comes from the time I invest in the FDCC. That has never been truer than in the last twelve months. In a time of unexpected challenge professionally and individually, I have experienced a new level of gratitude for my membership in the Federation and my service to the organization as one of your officers.
Fellowship and deep friendship are at our core. I took for granted that I would get to see my friends in person several times each year. Erin and I anticipated months of travel with Mike and Trish Glascott as FDCC ambassadors. What we experienced instead has been unique, humbling, enlightening, and powerful. We have participated in the lives of our members in profound ways. We have had more contact with more members in the last twelve months than I could have imagined. Working with my fellow officers and our executive team we have invented ways of staying connected and delivering value to our members in the virtual environment.
Mike Glascott declared early on in his Presidential year that the FDCC needed to “own the virtual space” and we have done that. Collectively we have shared hundreds of gatherings on Zoom—we have cooked together, read together, learned together, laughed together, and shed some tears together. We have advanced the goals of the strategic plan that Elizabeth Lorell led us to develop and adopt just two months before we locked down. We have had one of our most successful years of recruiting new members under the leadership of Casey Stansbury, Stacy Broman, Heidi Goebel, Bernie Heinze, and so many others.
We are coming out of this challenging period with gratitude for what we have experienced and anticipation for what comes next. The FDCC is in a strong position organizationally and financially as we celebrate our 85th year. Our members are engaged and connected. And we will be gathered together again this summer at the Greenbrier!
