who untiringly helped the diverse population in Jackson, Mississippi in so many ways and was devoted to the FDCC. The scholarship is expressly awarded to a diverse current or entering law student. As a result of generous donations made by our members, this year we raised the scholarship award to $10,000. It is a Foundation effort that makes a meaningful and long-lasting contribution to the diverse recipient’s career.
• Ladder Down, originally developed by FDCC Members Alison Christian and Beth Fitch, became associated with the Foundation in 2016. The Foundation’s ongoing role is to provide support and visibility to Ladder Down’s mission to provide insight on questions and needs of women lawyers that are often asked, but rarely answered. Whether it is how to develop a book of business or how to develop strong leadership and communication skills that will help them move up in their organization, or just learning how to expand their network through activities that increase their visibility, Ladder Down is an amazing program that the Foundation is proud to support.
• FedLIFE has recently become a new focus of the Foundation, and we have provided support for this
Federation, and learning about other important traditional tasks such as electing our future leaders in the FDCC.
All FDCC members are also members of the Foundation. As you already know, your Foundation has always been assisting with creating new ideas
and projects within the Federation for years. The Foundation has helped provide the starting working capital for flagship events and initiatives that have expand the FDCC’s mission such as: the Corporate Counsel Symposium; the Insurance Industry Institute; the Deposition Bootcamp, the Litigation Management College, and the Punitive Damages Project.
The Foundation’s mission to help, to educate and to make a difference continues:
• Please see the accompanying article pertaining to our awarding the annual Barb Currie Diversity Scholarship. This scholarship was established to forever remember the spouse of a member who passed away while traveling back from planning a Federation meeting. Barb was an amazing person
