you to visit and enjoy during your time in Nashville. If you’re thirsty, enjoy a tasting at Standard Proof Whiskey Company, Green Brief Distillery, or the Corsair Distillery Tap Room. For something less structured, grab a beer flight at Jackalope Brewing Company,
or lunch and live music at one
of the bars bearing the names of Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, Jason Aldean, and Blake Shelton. Rest assured that your convention team has researched these thoroughly to ensure quality control. We’ve included the lists here and you can also find them on the FDCC website.
Our Program Theme is “Our Heroes Have Always Been Lawyers,” and Program Chair Sean Griffin’s first act of heroism was to push back the start of the program to 9:00 am so you won’t be late after your night on the town. But once we start, you won’t want to miss it. On Monday, February 20, Judge Wendy Tien, who speaks around the world
about the role of the judiciary and litigation management, will tell us how judges and lawyers can promote heroic changes in America.
We are also honored to have Judge Bernice Donald of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, who will describe how her experiences helped her use the law to promote equity and justice. Next, New York Times reporter Adam Liptak – the preeminent Supreme Court analyst in the country – will appear to give us an unbiased, nonpartisan view of the Supreme Court’s past rulings, the leak investigation, anticipated decisions, and how the Court’s decisions may affect us going forward.

Monday night, we will kick things into high gear with the “My Kinda Party” President’s Reception at the Country Music Hall of Fame. We did mention that our hotel connects directly to the Hall! So even after you put on your best boots and cowboy hats, you won’t have any
problem getting there on time for dinner at the Hall. And if you want to explore Broadway some more after the Reception, we won’t mind – after all, Tuesday’s program won’t start until 9:00.
But set your alarm, because Tuesday’s program will be spectacular. We will begin with Section presentations, during which you may or may not see Section Chairs and others sporting superhero outfits and other paraphernalia. Then, we will present “Heroes of Mediation,” featuring current mediators and past Federation presidents Tom Cordell, Dan Kohane, and Jean Lawler teaching us about the importance of pre-mediation planning.
Tuesday night, dine with friends. Have a steak at Kayne Prime
or the River House. Or enjoy contemporary cuisine at Henrietta Red. Those of you in a supper-
club mood will want to check out the upscale Twelve-Thirty Club, which, like most places in Nashville, features live music. If you’re feeling more casual, catch a meal and some music at Luke’s 32 Bridge or Acme Feed & Seed. Then again, you don’t really need our recommendations for dinner, because Nashville is packed with great restaurants
and great music. After dinner, you might be tempted to wander over to Blend Bar, but if you do, make time for our after-dinner “As Sweet As Strawberry Wine” dessert party at the hotel.
On Wednesday, we have two parallel programming tracks. For in-house counsel, our “In-House Heroics” track will feature a roundtable discussion
