FDCC Meetings - Looking Back
The FDCC Sizzled in Seattle!

When I started promoting our first ever FDCC Cooks head-to- head cookoff to raise funds for the Foundation, I never dreamed that the
weather gods would respond by gracing us with record heat for 4
of the 5 days of our convention! Despite the heat, we had a blast in lovely Seattle. This was the FDCC’s first foray into holding the Annual Meeting in an urban setting. There was no shortage of things to do and see.
The Chihuly Garden and Glass provided an unforgettable venue for our opening night to honor President Bob Christie and First Lady Erin Christie. The FDCC kids were whisked to the top of the Space Needle where they could peer down at their parents as they connected with friends, old and new. We had full access to the museum which houses many of world-renowned blown glass artist, Dale Chihuly’s, most famous pieces.
Members were able to connect and celebrate reunions as they wandered through the gardens comprised not only of natural plants, but more of Chihuly’s work. The following day our members explored the city and surrounding area, trying their own hand (and mouths) at glassblowing, taking
to the air in seaplanes and hitting the water on kayaks and electric
boats. After a night out on the town sampling the best restaurants in Seattle we reconvened for the dessert party and an impromptu karaoke lounge hosted by Jeff Kelsey.
Thursday, the heat was on. The Sizzlin’ cookoff raised about $6,000 for the Foundation and pitted Sean “King Prawn” Griffin against Dan “Paella Pan” Kohane
