 FDCC Pillars
 • Sara Agate, who was the 2017 recipient, Wanda graduating cum laude from the Chicago- Kent College of Law and, after clerking for Hepler Broom and interning in the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, is now Assistant Legal Counsel for the Illinois Senate Democratic Caucus.
Thanks, in no small part to you and our other Federation colleagues, these young men and women will always remember how the FDCC helped them through their time in law school and to further enable them to take their place in our profession. We see the opportunity to donate to the Foundation for the scholarships, funding of programs, speakers and events during the year on the annual dues invoices, or on the Foundation’s page of
the website. But it is quite another thing, and quite a spectacular observation, to appreciate the value and influence donations have had
– and continue having – when we are able to see the outcomes they provide in the form of the actual people benefited by them. So, thank you again for your consideration and generosity you have provided to those worthy scholarship recipients during the past 5 years, as well as for those still to come.
Nominations & Membership
Our thanks also to you and
the Membership Recruitment Committee for the effort of nominating quality candidates for membership in the Federation. We are well on our way to celebrating the achievement of nominating 250 new candidates by the time
of the Annual Meeting in Seattle,
WA this year. For those that are approved by the Admissions Committee. we meet each of them in our virtual orientation sessions, as well as at the Winter and Annual Meetings. Each of them have achieved tremendous personal and professional success, and each further deepen the bench strength within the Federation.
The effort to nominate and
admit those who are “above and beyond” others is not simply a mission to increase our “numbers” or to increase revenue. Rather,
the effort is to seek exceptional individuals who will add their own unique fingerprints to the FDCC, ensure its sustainability, as well
as to have members form those lasting relationships to foster their professional careers and personal lives. Thanks to you, since August 1, 2021, a total of 214 candidates have been nominated for membership.
We would greatly appreciate
your help in getting to the 250 nominations by the Annual Meeting in July. Simply send an email to liz@ thefederation.org with the name and contact information of your Defense and/or Corporate Counsel and Industry nominees and we will take it from there. If you also have someone in mind who can second the nomination and can pass that along to us, that will also be very helpful.
You might also be interested in knowing that during the course
of this past year, 48% of our new members are women, which is a marked increase over past years. The opportunities for us to make the composition of our membership
mirror the demographics of our clients, juries, judges and others in the profession will remain a priority for the Federation.
As noted, our membership continues being strengthened with 1496 professionals now being part of the Federation’s network in the following categories:
