setting while catching up with
FDCC friends.
The President’s Reception will be
at the South Carolina Aquarium,
a short ride from the hotel and
overlooking the waterfront. With
views of the Ravenal Bridge outside,
and a host of aquatic exhibits inside,
the Aquarium will provide a unique
and fun setting as we dine and
enjoy each other’s company. The
final night gala features a 10-piece
band for those who want to dance
the evening away, and cozy lounge
areas and craft cocktails for those
who prefer to visit and watch all the
action in laid back style.
FDCC members certainly enjoy a
good meal in a beautiful setting,
and we will have ample opportunity
to indulge our favorite food and
drink in Charleston through an
evening “Dining with Friends” and
various afternoon activities. For
those who want five-star meals from
award winning chefs, Charleston
offers dozens of options including
The Charleston Grill in the hotel:
The sounds of soft jazz greets you
as you enter the dining room. This
place is elegant without being
overly stuffy, and there's a general
anticipation that this is old school
fine dining as its high-level best.
For those who crave something
more casual, Charleston has
a burgeoning barbecue scene
that we will sample through an
afternoon brewery and barbecue
tour. For those who would prefer
to learn how to make their own
Charleston favorites at home, we
have a cooking class from Chef Bob
Waggoner “inspired by the many
farmers, fishermen, and artisans
of the lowcountry.” Of course, a
good meal deserves a well-crafted
drink to accompany it, so we are
offering a variety of fun afternoon
activities including a mixology class
in a Prohibition-style speakeasy,
distillery and pub tours, and a wine
blending class.
After all of that fine food and
drink, some light exercise and an
afternoon in the outdoors gets
the blood flowing, so we have a
number of options to get everyone
moving and enjoying nature. Our
afternoon eco-tour explores the
winding tidal creeks on the way to
a pristine barrier island reachable
only by boat, where wildlife and
natural wonders await. We also
have kayaking, fishing, and sailing
adventures for those who want to
further explore the natural beauty
surrounding Charleston. And
no meeting would be complete
without a Pickleball outing, and
golf.
We look forward to seeing you
there.
