was appointed to the bench in 2022.
She was elected to serve as a Judge
in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Court of Common Pleas in 2015
and served in that position until
coming on to the federal bench.
Judge Roberts Perez was previously
an assistant public defender and
the principle of her own law firm in
Philadelphia.
United States District Court Judge
Joseph Dawson of the USDC of
South Carolina was appointed to
the bench in 2020. Judge Dawson
was engaged in private practice in
general civil litigation and served as
Charleston County, South Carolina
County Attorney before coming on
to the bench.
A panel of distinguished speakers
will address third-party litigation
funding, mass tort advertisements,
and the questionable science often
associated with such matters. The
panel will speak to the current state
of affairs in third party litigation
funding, enacted and contemplated
federal and state legislation and
regulation, and the legal and media
aspects of this phenomenon. Mark

strategies for civil litigation matters
from a social science perspective.

moderate this panel discussion.

law school dean will address the
unfortunate collapse of the rule of
law and actions that can be taken
to restore its place of prominence
in American jurisprudence and

Carolina Law School Dean William
C. Hubbard and former South
Carolina Governor David Beasley
will address our membership in
a panel discussion moderated
by Jay Davis of Clement Rivers of
Charleston, South Carolina. Dean
Hubbard served as president of the
American Bar Association and led
efforts to increase access to justice
and strengthen the rule of law. He
is a past president of the American
Bar Foundation and American Bar
Endowment. Dean Hubbard is the
co-founder and chairperson of the
Board of the World Justice Project,
a multinational and multidiscipline
initiative to strengthen the rule of
law worldwide. David Beasley was
elected Governor of South Carolina
after serving in the South Carolina
House of Representatives. Governor
Beasley is Executive Director of the
