Handling a Bully
Sometimes opposing counsel is simply a bully. They bully the deponent. They bully you. They bully the court reporter. Knowing how to deal with bullies is an unfortunate but necessary skill set.
EXPLANATION
Participants learn how to deal with a bully in deposition.
EXERCISE
Share stories of bullies you’ve encountered in deposition and explain how you handled them. Then play the role of a bully and have participants interact with you and try to deal with you and your behavior.
LESSONS LEARNED
This exercise teaches participants how to address a bully in deposition and provides them different approaches on how best to do so.
