Barb Currie Diversity
The Federation
of Defense and Corporate Counsel Foundation, an organization committed to the full participation and
diversity in the profession.
Barb was a light in our world. She embraced everyone and changed the lives of many people in Mississippi. She was a teacher, mentor and role model for everyone. She was truly a champion of diversity and we all try to be better people because of her love, example and influence.
The FDCC Foundation Barb Currie Diversity Scholarship is open
to application by all diverse law school students and prospective students and the recipient is awarded a $10,000 academic scholarship to the law school of their choice.
Ms. Rava, is from Fall River, MA, was born in Brazil and immigrated to the United States with her parents when she was 12 years old.
She was selected from a pool of over 70 applicants
from more than 32 different
inclusion of diverse professionals in the legal profession, is pleased to announce third-year law student Mariana Rava of the Roger Williams University School of Law in Rhode Island, as the recipient of the 2023 Barb Currie Diversity Scholarship.
With the core values of diversity and inclusion in mind, the FDCC Foundation created the FDCC Foundation Barb Currie Diversity Scholarship to honor the spouse of one of long-time member, Edward J. Currie, Jr., a champion of
Mariana Rava
2023 Barb Currie Diversity Scholarship Recipient
law schools across the nation by the Scholarship Committee.
On receiving word she would
be the recipient of this year’s scholarship, Ms. Rava wrote back, “I am extremely grateful to have been selected as the recipient
of the Barb Currie Diversity Scholarship, which will bring
me one step closer to my goal of
