REDESIGNING THE ICONIC SURF LIFESAVING CAP
The need:
I will need to investigate a number of materials that the product could potentially be manufactured from. The materials needs to be readily available, reasonably cheap to source and light weight. They must also be UV, sand and salt water resistant to ensure the product doesn't deteriorate too quickly.

Design factors:
Sun protection for face and neck is crucial as these are one of the most sensitive areas that cancer forms. Current design has no protection
built into the cap.

Ventalation for the head and neck to keep cool.Mesh fabrics allowing air flow and UV rated fabrics.
Design factors:
Sun protection for the ears
is crucial as many skin cancers form here. Current design has no protection built into the cap.
