What kind of skills do you need
to do financial investigations?
- Master Research public records;
- Master public and investigation databases;
- Data management and analysis with spreadsheets;
- Knowledge of charting software so you can present the findings;
- Basic Accounting;
- Legal knowledge specifically related to asset recovery; and
- Being able to write a good report.
All learnable skills by anyone. You don’t necessarily need a
background in accounting or law, but you definitely need to master
researching public records through the County Recorder’s Offices, as
well as Court Index Searches (Pacer & other Courts) and investigative
databases (IRB, IDIcore, etc.).
