Kapa Haka 2020
In Kapa Haka this year, we have had lots of opportunities to share our skills and passion with our peers, whānau and the wider community. We have performed at our regular school whakatau each term, the Kapa Haka exchange at Willow Park School and at the Birkdale-Beachhaven Kapa Haka Festival held at Kauri Park School.
In addition to this we started:
Weekly haka workshops led by senior students
from Northcote College
Weekly karanga workshops to build confidence and skills for whakatau
Using Haka pōwhiri as part of the whakatau Growing leadership in karanga waiata for 2021.
These have given students more opportunities to be involved and learn other skills in using tikanga Māori and haka used in whakatau and pōwhiri.
