December 2020
this holiday season! See how you can control your own mind and bring joy back into your life, by seeing what is already there. If you have children, when they are sad about not being able to sit with Santa, have them write him a letter telling him all the things they have now they are thankful for or are appreciative of, and how they look forward to catching up with him next year. The more joy you see in your world; the more joy you find in your world; the more joy you find in your world, the more joy you want to give to this world. Shine bright this holiday season! Share your joy with Life with everyone you encounter this holiday sea- son! Make your smile reach your eyes and be the twinkle and the light that is needed in the world this holiday season and all the days seasons to follow!

As the snow starts to fly and twinkle lights start to popup among the landscape of moun- tains, one can start to feel the giddy excitement of another holiday season upon us! Parties full of good cheer, Secret Santa gifts, cookies to be made, visits to relatives, caroling, gatherings at churches to honor one’s faith, Christmas tree lightings and balls being dropped to celebrate the incoming of a new year! Ahhhh, can’t you feel it? Snow- balls and sleigh bells, children sitting on Santa’s lap, hugs to neighbors and friends...nothing like this holiday season to bring everyone together, even if its for a month. But wait, what is that in the sky? That microscopic, giant red ball with little fuzzy antennas? It’s headed right for us.... Boom! COVID. Parties of 6, lockdowns, not enough money for gifts, no hugging rel- atives, (for some, not even seeing them), Santa is behind glass, and a wave may be all you get from your neighbor as they grab their hoarded toilet paper from the car. Sounds like a horror movie...no,
its just 2020.
2020 has brought with it sor-
row, pain, sickness, isolation, debt, divide, and full outrage. For the love of all that is holy, literally, couldn’t it have given us our “normal” Christmas? It seems not. But should we allow COVID and the restrictions it has put upon us to take away our joy? Should we give our power, ordareIbesoboldtosayour right, to feel peace, happiness, love for oneself and one’s neigh- bor over to a beast we cannot even see? Yes, the “normal” holiday season is not upon us. But you and I have the ability to still take control over our expe- rience during this time and feel the peace, happiness and joy the holidays are meant to be about. Shoot, not just the holidays, every day! With that in mind, we need a new plan. We need a new survival kit for the 2020 holiday season. The large par- ties or shopping trips to the malls and standing in line to see Santa may not be this year but does not mean that a microscopic red ball full of fury can take away your Spirit? Not unless you allow it to and you don’t have to! We are
all living a new normal where masks cover up smile. They do not cover up twinkles in one’s eye. It is time to take the twin- kle lights of this season and bring them into our lives, now more than ever. But how? Start by using that incredible imagination you have been gifted with! It’s all about tapping into that inner joy that we all have, owning it and feeling its power.
Joy overcomes fear. – what do you have in your life that brings you Joy? Is it a child, a grand- child, a pet, a home, a tree, a favorite pair of shoes? What brings you Joy? Every time you feel there is none in your life, or even in your moment, that is a lie. You have Joy, it is in you. You just aren’t focused on it. Turn your focus. Start listing what brings you joy. Listing all the things that brings you joy brings the feeling to you. It’s as magical as Santa Claus himself! Go ahead try it! You will be smiling very shortly! You can do this with any feeling you desire to feel! Joy, peace, love, appreciation, abundance. Appreciation removes sorrow. Fear and sorrow are lack. Joy and Peace are Abundance. Abun-
dance is Light. Darkness is sick- ness. Light overcomes darkness.
I know, I get it. You’re say- ing, but what if I don’t have any money for presents this year? How can I be happy? I have bills to pay and nothing to pay them with. Yes, that is a hard one to get joy out of. For a moment, stop and list what DO you have. Do you have creditors that are working with you? Do you have a roof over your head? Do you have a sharp mind? Do you have a friend? Do you have working organs in your body that are working to keep you alive with- out you putting any thought into it? What do you have? List it. Feel appreciation for whatever it is you do have. Feel the joy that appreciation brings you and see the light in the darkness. It is a scientific fact that a person has inspirational ideas during mo- ments of peace and joy. Solu- tions do not show up when you are riddled in fear and anxiety. Shift your mindset and see what great ideas flow in to help you!

Linda Kriss Retires
HEBRON - The Union Con- gregational Church of Hebron would like to take this moment to celebrate Linda Kriss and congratulate her on her retire- ment as our beloved Church Sec- retary. Linda joined our church community shortly after moving to Hebron and has been a staple of organization, communication and support to our Minister’s for the last 8 years. She can always be heard saying, “My job is to make your job easier. You are here to minister to the congre- gation. I am here to support you and make your job easier.” Linda has done that for, not only, our church but for our community, as a whole. She has always been quick to express her thoughts and prayers to parishioners. To newer parishioners, she always made time to welcome them and get them acquainted with every- one, making them feel like they were instantly part of our church community. Linda will be surely
missed in the office but we look forward to seeing her during fu- ture services. When asked what she is going to do with her free time, Linda laughed and said, “I’m looking forward to some traveling with Phil (Linda’s hus- band), visiting with my brother and doing art classes in the Plym- outh area.” Thank you, Linda, as a congregation, we have all been blessed to have you these past 8 years as our secretary. We wish you fun and adventure on your retirement.
