Mark your calendars every- one! Voices against Violence’s event “Dancing with the Stars” will take place on Thursday, July 15th at 6:30pm in Kelly’s Park in Bristol, NH. People from all over can come and enjoy a fun night filled with dancing, music, and entertainment. Dancing with the Stars will feature six differ- ent couples from the Newfound area competing in an epic dance competition to raise money for Voices against Violence. The couples have local dance profes- sionals working with them to put together epic routines to provide some excellent entertainment for the viewers. The pairs will be performing their two-and- a-half to three-minute perfor- mances in front of three judges who will decide who the 2021 Dancing with the Stars Cham- pion is. The dancers have the

creative freedom to pick any style of dance they want to perform at the event, so be prepared for some fantastic routines! And with Kelly’s Park being so spacious, fans will be able to spread out and social distance, making this a safe event outdoors.
I interviewed Marcie Gowen-Nobley, the chair of the Development Committee and the determined organizer of the Dancing with the Stars event. Marcie informed me that other than fundraising, she wants this event to provide awareness to the Newfound community that Voices against Violence is a resource for all over. “Voices really is here to help all towns, and we believe that bringing this event to a new town will help spread that message,” Gowen- Nobley told me. There seems to be a misconception that since Voices is based in Plymouth, they only work primarily for
groups.

intermission during the event where people are invited to vote by donation for their favorite couple, and the money raised will go to Voices Against Violence. Marcie informed me that these donations could help with Voices’ various services, like their crisis hotline, shelters, and more. The couple who receives the most donations will be crowned the “Fan Favorite” of the night for all of their hard work! Voices is also working on getting the local dance studio for the kids and some live music for the event to add to the fun happenings of the night. T-shirts will also be available for purchase at the event for anyone interested. Remeber, Dancing with the Stars is free for anyone looking to have a fun summer night. Once the Voices Against Violence is up and running, there will be a page where people can donate as well. Marcie would like to give a quick shoutout to the town of Bristol for letting them hold this event! “We were very fortunate that the town of Bristol welcomed us and this event with open arms to help us spread the message that we are here to help.”
So make sure you’re free on July 15th because it’s time to watch some epic dancing!

that town, which is not the case. The Plymouth-based office helps all surrounding towns in the Newfound region with a multitude of different issues. Voices against Violence makes it their mission to support victims
of domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, and more. They have various support and resources in place for everyone. This includes their emergency hotline, education and outreach programs, shelters, and support
