MEMBERSHIP YEAR IN REVIEW
April 2020
As we look back on our year together as members of Crown Jewels, we faced a few challenges, pulled
together our collective efforts and expertise and forged ahead, experiencing a few triumphs along the
way.
Our total active membership at 65 members grew by more than 8% vs last year, including the number
of DOLs, which at 11 members are up 22.2% over last year. We set as a goal two years ago, greater
diversity and a desire to bring in younger members. On this score, we are on a positive trajectory as
the number of members between the ages of 21-40 is up 80% over last year at 9 members vs. 5 in
April 2019.
The professional expertise within our chapter has also changed with the number of members with
corporate professional experience growing by nearly 29% year over year. We are poised to make
smarter decisions about how to best engage the skills, expertise and talents of our membership due,
in part, to the information gathered in the Bio Book that was created this year in response to
feedback received from the Chapter at the 2019 Friendship Retreat.
We added 10 new members to our chapter this past year, 5 through induction and 5 transfers and
sadly lost one to resignation. We inducted 3 members to Alumna status in June and a productive
Friendship Retreat in August.
We fought to retain 3 members through the submission of an extensive boundary revision that opens
the possibilities for Crown Jewels’ membership to continue to grow, thrive and serve our community
and our chapter, and we won.
We held 10 friendship circle opportunities outside of our chapter meetings, for Alumnae and active
members alike, to unite in friendship and fun and to learn more about each other.
And we are preparing a pipeline of 3 dynamic new candidates for membership in the year to come.
Crown Jewels’ members are winners. We’re winners not only because we received recognition in the
Southern Area Friendship Challenge. We’re winners because we have lived through, learned from and
moved forward linked with each other, experiencing change together, despite any obstacles that
came our way. Our membership has grown in so many ways and for this we should all feel proud.
In Friendship,
