STAGE ONE: TRADITIONAL
5. Fine Dining With Family
a-Serving a select few residents and their special guests each month at a fine dining experience happens in many facilities. Serving every resident and their guests at
a fine dining experience is less common. Those with severe physical or cognitive impairments are often not included in the fine dining invitation list. Create this memorable “Five Star” restaurant dining experience for everyone in your facility, and you will be rewarded beyond your dreams! Often planned and served by department leadership, these special meals nourish the soul as well as the body.
b-A special staff friend may be invited to join the family meal to assist a resident challenged with physical or cognitive ability. This will help the resident fully participate and enjoy the meal.
c-Pay particular attention to the special needs of residents invited to the celebration. Consistency modification is vital.
d-Residents at Hillcrest Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, a Senior Campus in Wayzata, MN enjoy a fine dining experience with their invited family and guests during their birthday month, prepared and served by a chef complete with white hat and checkered pants. The chef, who also is a staff family member, began this tradition when he was a student and continues it years later – everyone feels special about this monthly event.
