All food items were served as planned.
Meals were not served for residents not at the table. Food was served promptly if a resident arrived at a late time for the meal.
Cook and designated staff tasted all food before meal service.
Resident info was used and checked
to be sure proper diet and texture were served, special instructions for feeding were followed and adaptive equipment needed was available.
Food temperature was appropriate.
All available staff assisted with meal service.
All staff were aware of foods being served and of available substitutes.
Residents were asked by staff if they were enjoying their meal and were en- couraged to eat and drink.
Medication administration did not interfere with mealtime.
Residents not eating 50% of meal items were offered substitutes of equal nutri- tional value, then any item they would like to eat or drink.
All trays were delivered to resident rooms in a timely manner. Resident rooms were properly positioned for eating and all needed assistance was given.
Residents were offered a choice of all available items.
Resident cares prior to mealtime were appropriate, including hygiene, eyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids and positioning devices.
Proper hand washing, glove use and other infection control practices were followed in the dining room.
Table set up and service were attractive.
Residents were walked to the dining room, transferred to dining room chairs, and seated at tables of appro- priate height.
Meal service was attractive with foods garnished and served in appropriate dishes.
All residents at a table were served before going on to the next table.
Dining room was quiet. Conversation with residents appropriate.
Meal service time was coordinated with nursing and residents did not wait more than 10 minutes for hot food to be served.
Table mates were compatible.
Tables, chairs and floor were clean and in good repair.
Residents were assisted with dignity.
Intake records were completed properly.
