Any one of the Essential Elements can be read and then talked about in a circle in your living room. The learning circle questions above are just examples of open- ended questions you might ask to get the circle going. One element, one circle, one discussion.
How can we bring these elements to life in our household?
Staff needs to believe that each resident householder is in charge of his or her life. Residents and staff work together and are in charge of daily life in their common household. Some residents will enjoy this congregate “household life” and some will not care as much as others. A few will refuse. All is okay. Respect each person’s boundaries. Seek balance.
