Who’s in Charge?
It used to be the charge nurse. It used to be “them,” meaning staff. It used to be “upper management.” Who should it be? Is it too idealistic to say it should be you, the people who live in the household? Do you agree with Norton and Shields that, “The elders
in households must be in the driver’s seat as they create their own home. We have a responsibility to be their partners in this pursuit?”
Community Learning Circle Questions
We want you to be in the driver’s seat; to be your own boss. Let’s go around the circle and talk about it: What do you have charge of in your life here? What could we do differently to more clearly put you in charge of your own life?
