Harold loves ice cream. For the first few decades of his life, living in the country with no electricity meant that ice cream was something you made in a big bucket on Sundays and you had to eat it all that day. Not that he minded eating it all. But it left him longing the rest of the week. When he was in his 30s he left the farm with his wife and kids and moved to town and he finally got a freezer! And that meant one thing to him: ice cream every day of the week. Every night before bed since the arrival of that freezer, Harold, now 85, has
had a big bowl of ice cream. Not one
of those little pre-packaged cups that comes with a wooden spoon they hand out in institutions, but a big cereal bowl full. It is so important that we enable elders to continue their food habits.
