“Kitchen Rights”
We find that many householders do not realize they and their family members have full use
of the kitchen – including the refrigerator, microwave and stove – at any time. (Of course, it is inherent in the Household Model that safety is monitored.) Some residents and family members naturally take the initiative
to use the kitchen to make a meal, snack or favorite baked item, but most do not.
Make it well known during tours, when new residents move in and within each household that “refrigerator rights,” and better yet, “kitchen rights” for residents and family members are inherent in the Household Model. Remember, home life consists of normal activities. This includes, among other things, hosting and kitchen rights. It all helps preserve the sanctuary of home
