What Is “Vibrancy?”
Vibrant means vigorous, vivacious, lively and vital. You don’t have to be “on the go” all day long or even get out of your chair to have a vibrant spirit stirring inside you. We can break free from the boring, spiritless, sameness of institutional living by honoring the vibrant spirit in all of us living and working in nursing homes and letting it reflect in the way our days are passed.
Who Decides?
Each little decision we make every day makes our lives
precious and unique. From the clothes we choose to put on in the morning and the people we choose to spend time with, to the way we listen to what our hearts and bodies tell us and the ways we find sound sleep. Only through these choices and day-by-day creation do our lives become our own and something to hold dear.
Our work to change the culture of long-term care, create households or write a workbook would be in vain if we thought we knew what makes a vibrant daily life for you. So as a reminder to all of us, it is you, the persons living in the household, for whom a vibrant life is to be created, and it is you (with input from those working there) who get to create it.
