PART ONE
Step One
Each team member should silently read the assignment. Silently, jot down some of your observations on what decisions the author would be able to make in her facility in Column One on the following worksheet.
Step Two What Decisions Can Our Residents Make 15 minutes
Come to a facility team circle. Share your thoughts/observations in turn. As a team, jot down your consensus on what decisions residents in your facility can make NOW in Column Two on the following worksheet.
PART TWO
Step Three What Decisions Our Residents Will Be Able To Make 20 minutes
As a facility team, first decide your long-term goal for decisions your residents will be able to make and state it in the final section of the following worksheet.
Then decide reasonable goals for your resident's decision making in three months and six months. Jot them down in Columns Three and Four on the following worksheet. Decide which decision making rights you intend to enhance is most significant for the dignity and autonomy of the residents dining in your facility and plan a one minute presentation to share it with the group.
Step Four Sharing Our Most Significant Commitment 10 minutes
In a creative way, share your commitment to enhancing resident dignity and autonomy in dining with the full group.
