Unit (2)

                                      Phonics – Syllables

                                                     Parent’s Guide

A syllable is a word part with one vowel sound. Some

words have more than one syllable. There is a rule breaker of

the open syllable rule. This rule is called “VC/V Syllable”.

                                                     The Camel Rule

How do you know where to split the word/syllable?

When a word has one consonant between the vowels and the

first vowel has a short sound, split the word after the
                   consonant.

                   Example:

camel = cam • el habit = hab • it

Divide the following words into syllables.
