 Variable Expenses
Now you have 90 days of income and spending from your account(s). But there’s more to it! What about things like oil changes, gifts for relatives and other things that you need to spend money on, but not necessarily during the months you downloaded? Oh, and don’t forget about the month of December! To get a true picture of your finances, we need to think about everything you spend money on throughout the year and plan for the variable expenses as well. We have a spreadsheet to help you determine these variable expenses
Financial To Do’s
Determine Variable Expenses (See the Spending Assessment from page 8)
1. In the Spending Assessment form downloaded from page 8 there is a tab/sheet named Variable Expenses.
2. Go through each category and if it pertains to something you spend money on or will spend money on, determine/estimate the yearly cost and fill in the “Estimated yearly cost” column.
3. The sheet will then determine an “Estimated cost per month.” That amount is to be manually added to the spending assessment under the Non-Monthly group.
4. The categories can be adjusted to suit your needs.
Variable Expenses Include Anything That Is Not Paid Monthly. Some examples are:
Taxes
Amazon Prime
App Subscriptions
Vacation
Christmas
Home Repairs
Gifts
Financial App Yearly Subscriptions (Quicken, Every Dollar, etc.) Auto Maintenance
Insurance (Life, Health, Auto)
Investments
Are you managing the money or is the money managing you?
