AUSTRALIA
to normal face-to-face
meetings as we emerge
from COVID lockdowns
By Dr Rebecca Deans Country Representative
The past year marked the transition out of strict COVID-19 lockdown measures in Australia.
Fertility services returned for the community as health facilities working in elective settings were able to treat patients again.
We have also seen an encouraging return to traditional face-to-face conferences and workshops after the pandemic forced meetings into virtual format. There were smiles a plenty as colleagues and friends came together again.
A highlight was the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand 2022 conference in Sydney in late July and early August that attracted a record 823 attendees.
There was similar excitement and welcome collegiality at the Australian and New Zealand Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (ANZREI) and SEED meetings.

We look forward to building on these positive signs as we welcome you to the 13th Congress of the Pacific Society of Reproductive Medicine (PSRM) in Sydney in March.
Professor Bill Ledger, President of the PSRM, said: “This is the first time that the Society has visited Australia and we promise you a meeting of the highest scientific quality, the best opportunity for networking and making new friends, and the most exciting social program – all in one of the world’s great cities.”
Similarly, we look forward with great anticipation to the 2023 ASPIRE Congress in Adelaide in September. This edition of our newsletter provides more detail about what to expect at ASPIRE 2023 as members come together again for the traditional face-to-face format.
